MX Yearbook

Every year, Tonic — Highmark Health’s in-house marketing agency — creates a yearbook to document the enterprise’s most successful work. Each year has a theme, and this was “Simplicity Everywhere”.

Inspired by the clean, image forward tone of an art book the design focused on a tactile and elegant experience with an interior layout flexible enough to support multiple types of projects (title, word count, imagery), while maintaining a consistent feel throughout. A streamlined experience to celebrate our simplicity initiative.

The subtle but impactful cover was created with a black foil stamp on black linen for a tactile and elevated experience.

Call backs

Divider pages brought us back to the black cover and table of contents with a strong flood of rich black and large type. Flexibility allowed for one to two line titles, and the number tag at the top left orients the reader to their chapter location, matching up with the table of contents.

The design system allowed for different words counts with title, intro, and body copy lengths, giving the book flexibility but also structure and familiarity. By utilizing a tagging method for each brand we simplified redundancies in titles and created another design element.
